Teatime. It was teatime at Donaghan's home in Reading, and Melva O'Dwyer (Donaghan's mother) was a bit too excited that she was allowed to actually talk to her younger son's girlfriend to notice the slight awkwardness between the two. She had met Haysel a few times before, but past the brief introductions and a casual "hello" or two, she barely knew her at all. So Melva was quite surprised when, after asking if Donnie would like to have Haysel over for tea and perhaps a board game, her son just said "yeah, all right," and nodded.

Tea had barely finished and Melva had just suggested a game of Scrabble when the phone rang, and Donaghan's mother was called out to go pick Connolly up from whatever mischief he had gotten into across the city with some of the blokes he ran with. This left Donnie and Haysel alone together, able to talk privately for the first time since they had left that upstairs bedroom at Meaghan's on New Year's Day.

He set his teacup on the coffee table in front of them and slipped his hand into hers, giving his girlfriend a grin. "How're you doing," he asked, his tone implying what he was really asking about.

They had been at an impasse for far too long, and Lizzie was tired of being on such chilly terms with her best friend. Sure, they weren't really fighting, but this pretty much was fighting for them. Hestia was far too mature to squabble. Lizzie wasn't, but it was hard to squabble when the other person wouldn't squabble back.

But it was New Years Eve and Lizzie was ready to give in and apologise for being such a bitch lately. Plus, she really wanted to not sit in her room, reading an old magazine on New Years Eve while all of her classmates were partying. She refused to be that pathetic.

So she made her way to the Ravenclaw Common Room, only to get stuck at the stupid portrait hole. She knocked loudly on it, yelling, "HESTIA, I CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE ANSWER TO THIS BULLSHIT QUESTION SO PLEASE OPEN THE DOOR FOR ME."

The game for those "in-between" years - it's been 9 years since the baby Potter somehow defeated the world's greatest terror and it will be another 5 before he's back. Severus Snape is teaching at Hogwarts, Peter Pettigrew is still believed to be dead, and people are living comfortably. It's the golden age of Hogwarts - Charlie Weasley is the best Seeker Gryffindor has had in a long time, Kirley Duke is discovering the Guitar, Dunbar Oglethorpe discovered his love for watching Quidditch, and Marcus Flint hasn't failed a year yet. All of Harry's older friends are still ickle youngsters - what was Hogwarts like for them?
